My name is Claire Reynolds and Love Joy Farm is my small unofficially organic flower farm. The name comes from the Jonesboro / Lovejoy, Georgia location of the farm and the feeling words love, joy and farm evoke. In a way, these words mean the same thing.
I grew up in Jonesboro, GA and, after living in Humboldt County, California for 17 years, I came back to help out my dad after he had a stroke. He was an organic farmer since he read SILENT SPRING in the 1960s and I was hoping to farm with my dad when I moved back. However, he didn’t recover, so I am farming his land without him and his vast knowledge. 2022 is my first year of seriously growing flowers after selling bouquets with Truly Living Well Center for Natural Urban Agriculture in 2021. They were kind enough to let me tag along at their farmers markets and it gave me the confidence and experience to try growing flowers to sell at markets this year.
My first market was June 11 at the Oakhurst Farmers Market, where I’ll be every Saturday from 9a.m. to 1p.m. I’m also at the Virginia Highlands Farmers Market every other Thursday from 3p.m. to 7p.m.
